Chrome Extension
Download and manually install the Downcity Chrome extension, then connect your City, Agent and Workspace.
The Downcity Chrome extension lets you chat with your Agent in a side panel and reference the current page or selected text. It requires Chrome 116 or later and a running, reachable Downcity City.
The extension is currently distributed as a ZIP for manual installation. It is not yet listed in the Chrome Web Store. The package works with Chrome on macOS, Windows and Linux.
Install manually
- Download and unzip the package into a permanent folder, such as
Documents/Downcity/chrome-extension. - Open
chrome://extensionsin Chrome. - Enable Developer mode.
- Click Load unpacked.
- Select the extracted folder that directly contains
manifest.json. - Pin Downcity in the toolbar and click its icon to open the side panel.
Select the extracted folder, not the ZIP. Keep that folder after installing.
Connect Downcity
Start your City, open the extension's Settings, and enter:

Click Save and check (保存并检查). Once connected, reopen the side panel or click Reconnect (重新连接). The extension interface currently uses Chinese labels.
Port 15314 is for RPC, not HTTP. Do not include /agents/.../workspaces/... in City URL: the extension adds the scope using the IDs you provide.
Use the extension
- Click the toolbar icon or press
Command+Ion macOS /Ctrl+Ion Windows and Linux. Change conflicting shortcuts atchrome://extensions/shortcuts. - Enter your request. The composer references the current page by default; remove that reference to send plain text only.
- Select text on a regular webpage and click Reference (引用) to add it to the composer.
- Replies support Markdown, reasoning text and tool status.
- Reopening the panel restores the browser session for the same City, Agent and Workspace.
- New conversation (新对话) creates another session without deleting server history.
- If the event stream disconnects, click Reconnect to load saved messages and reconnect.
Page content is read and sent only when you submit a request containing a page reference. Chrome internal pages, the Chrome Web Store and some protected pages cannot be read. Handle tool approval requests in Downcity when the extension shows a waiting status.
Update or uninstall
Manually installed extensions do not update automatically. Download the new ZIP, replace the contents of the original folder, click Reload at chrome://extensions, then refresh webpages where you use references.
When upgrading from an older release to 0.3.0, configure City, Agent, Workspace and Token again. Existing server sessions are not deleted.
Click Remove at chrome://extensions to uninstall. Browser settings are removed; server sessions remain in Downcity.
Verify a download
Latest release metadata includes the version, size and SHA-256. The download redirects to a versioned ZIP; append .sha256 to that final path to download its checksum file.
