Chrome Extension Data and Privacy

Data read, stored and sent by the Downcity Chrome extension, and why permissions are required.

This notice applies to Downcity Chrome Extension 0.3.0. Updated October 14, 2026.

Data read and sent

The extension reads the active tab's title and URL to display page references. A local selection script detects selected text; clicking Reference passes that selection to the side panel.

When you submit a request, the extension sends your input and the page content, title, URL or selections included in that request to the Agent and Workspace at your configured City URL. Removing a page reference prevents that page's body from being read and sent for that request. Page references may include private content visible to you; remove unwanted references before submitting.

Your City executes Agent requests according to its configuration. Content may be provided to the model services or tools you configure. Server retention, model providers and tool behavior depend on that City.

Local storage

Chrome storage.local stores the City URL, Agent ID, Workspace ID, Agent Token, default request, server session IDs, recent page-sharing records and temporary selection references. Tokens are not written to storage.sync.

Page-sharing records contain the page URL, request text and timestamp, not the captured page body. Uninstalling removes browser settings. Manage server sessions separately in Downcity.
